Foods That Can Make Your Mood Better
Mostly, people have been conditioned to think that “comfort” foods are not good for the body and must be avoided. Often, if your comfort food is candy or some other junk food, this is very true. Other times, though, comfort foods can be totally nutritious and it’s good for you to eat them. A number of foods actually do improve your mood when you eat them. If you seem to be a little bit down and in need of an emotional pick me up, try several of these.
Eggs, you might be surprised to find out, are fantastic at battling depression. Just make sure that you do not toss the yolk. The yolk is the most crucial part of the egg iwhen it comes to helping you cheer up. Eggs, particularly the yolks, are loaded with B vitamins. The B vitamin family can be fantastic for raising your mood. This is because these vitamins help your neural transmitters–the parts of your brain that control your mood–function better. Eat an egg and be happy!
Make a trail mixout of different seeds and nuts. Peanuts, cashews, sunflower seeds, almonds, pumpkin seeds, etcetera are all great for helping to elevate your mood. This is possible since these foods have a bunch of magnesium which increases your production of serotonin. Serotonin is a feel-good chemical substance that directs the brain how to feel at any given point in time. The more of it you have, the more pleasant you are going to feel. Nuts, in addition to elevating your mood, can be a great protein source.
Cold water fish are good if you are wanting to be in a better mood. Tuna, trout, mackerel, herring and wild salmon are all full of omega-3 fatty acids and DHA. DHA and omega-3s are two things that truly help the grey matter in your brain function a lot better. It’s true: consuming a tuna fish sandwich can greatly raise your mood.
It’s easy to overcome your bad mood when you consume grains. Quinoa, millet, teff and barley are all actually great for helping increase your happiness levels. They help you feel full also which can really help to make your mood better. Feeling famished can truly make you feel awful! These grains can help your mood elevate as it’s not at all difficult for your body to digest them. They are simpler to digest than other foods which helps kick up your blood sugar levels and that, in turn, raises your mood.
Green tea is fantastic for moods. You were just waiting to read that, weren’t you? Green tea has been found to be rich in an amino acid known as L-theanine. Research has discovered that this amino acid induces the production of brain waves. This will better your brain’s focus while simultaneously calming the rest of your body. You knew that green tea helps you become better. Now you are aware that it can help raise your mood also!
See, you don’t need to eat all that junk food when you wish to feel better! Try these hints instead!
