Ham and Green Beans is one of the most well liked of current trending meals in the world. It is easy, it’s quick, it tastes yummy. It’s enjoyed by millions daily. They’re nice and they look wonderful. Ham and Green Beans is something that I’ve loved my entire life.
To get started with this recipe, we must first prepare a few components. You can have ham and green beans using 5 ingredients and 9 steps. Here is how you can achieve that.
The ingredients needed to make Ham and Green Beans:
- Make ready 3 lb Fresh green beans
- Prepare 8 potatoes
- Prepare 1/2 onion, chopped
- Get 1 lb Ham Hock
- Prepare 2 lb ham
Instructions to make Ham and Green Beans:
- Trim and rinse green beans.
- Peel, rinse and dice potatoes.
- In center of crockpot, place ham hock and then cover with potatoes and green beans.
- Chop onion and add to crockpot.
- When it comes to the ham, you can use a boneless ham piece, but keep in mind that bones mean flavor. I used a ham butt (lol) that was on sale and just threw it on the top of everything and sliced the meat off the bone halfway through the cooking process. You can certainly use boneless, and just dice it up and throw it on top.
- Fill crockpot with water until almost all ingredients are covered, but not quite.
- Cook on high for 3 hours. Then, carefully remove ham hock from center and trim off any meant that you are able to, discarding the bone and adding the meat back into the pot.
- Serve up with some tasty bread for dipping!
Turn to Food to Improve Your Mood
In general, people have been conditioned to believe that “comfort” foods are not good for the body and must be avoided. Often, if your comfort food is made of candy or other junk foods, this can be true. Otherwise, comfort foods could be very nutritious and good for you. There are several foods that really can improve your moods when you eat them. If you seem to feel a little bit down and need a happiness pick me up, try a couple of these.
Eggs, you may be amazed to find out, are great at combating depression. You should be sure, though, that what you make includes the yolk. The egg yolk is the part of the egg that matters most in terms of helping you cheer up. Eggs, particularly the yolks, are full of B vitamins. These B vitamins are terrific for helping to boost your mood. This is because they help your neural transmitters–the parts of your brain that affect your mood–function better. Try eating an egg and jolly up!
Make a trail mixout of a variety of seeds and nuts. Your mood can be elevated by consuming peanuts, almonds, cashews, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, etc. This is because seeds and nuts have plenty of magnesium which boosts your brain’s serotonin levels. Serotonin is referred to as the “feel good” substance that our body produces and it tells your brain how you should be feeling all the time. The higher your serotonin levels, the happier you will feel. Nuts, in addition to improving your mood, can be a great protein source.
Cold water fish are excellent for eating if you are wanting to beat back depression. Salmon, herring, tuna fish, mackerel, trout, etc, they’re all chock-full of omega-3 fatty acids and DHA. These are two substances that boost the quality and function of the gray matter in your brain. It’s the truth: eating tuna fish sandwiches can truly help you battle your depression.
It’s not hard to overcome your bad mood when you eat grains. Quinoa, millet, teff and barley are all really excellent for helping raise your happiness levels. These grains can help you feel full for longer as well, helping you feel better. It’s not difficult to feel depressed when you feel famished! The reason these grains elevate your mood is that they are not difficult to digest. They are simpler to digest than other foods which helps raise your blood sugar levels and that, in turn, improves your mood.
Green tea is really great for your mood. You were simply waiting to read that in this article, weren’t you? Green tea is rich in a particular amino acid known as L-theanine. Research has found that this amino acid stimulates the production of brain waves. This helps sharpen your mental energy while at the same time making the rest of your body more relaxed. You were already aware that green tea could help you be healthier. And now you are aware that green tea can help you be happier also!
As you can see, you don’t need to eat all that junk food when you are wanting to feel better! Try several of these instead!
