Use Food to Elevate Your Mood
Many of us think that comfort foods are terrible for us and that we have to avoid them. Sometimes, if your comfort food is made of candy or other junk foods, this is true. Otherwise, comfort foods could be super healthy and good for you. There are a number of foods that, when you eat them, could boost your mood. When you feel a little down and need an emotional boost, test out some of these.
Eggs, you may be surprised to learn, are terrific at battling depression. You must make sure, though, that what you make includes the yolk. The yolk is the most essential part of the egg iwhen it comes to helping you cheer up. Eggs, specifically the yolks, are loaded with B vitamins. B vitamins can be great for boosting your mood. This is because they help your neural transmitters–the parts of your brain that control your mood–work better. Eat an egg and feel a lot happier!
Make a trail mixfrom a variety of seeds and nuts. Your mood can be improved by eating peanuts, almonds, cashews, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, etcetera. This is because these nuts are loaded with magnesium, which helps to boost serotonin levels. Serotonin is the “feel good” chemical that dictates to your brain how you feel day in and day out. The more of this chemical in your brain, the more pleasant you’ll feel. Not only that, nuts, particularly, are a terrific source of protein.
Cold water fish are wonderful for eating if you wish to beat back depression. Cold water fish like tuna, trout and wild salmon are chock full of DHA and omega-3 fatty acids. DHA and omega-3s are two things that raise the quality and the function of your brain’s grey matter. It’s true: consuming a tuna fish sandwich can seriously raise your mood.
Grains can be wonderful for driving away a terrible mood. Teff, barley, millet, quinoa, etc are all good for helping you be in a happier state of mind. These grains can help you feel full for longer also, which can help your mood too. It’s not hard to feel depressed when you are starving! These grains can elevate your mood because it’s not at all hard for your body to digest them. They are simpler to digest than other foods which helps bring up your blood sugar levels and that, in turn, improves your mood.
Your mood can actually be helped by green tea. You were simply anticipating to read that in this article, weren’t you? Green tea is chock-full of an amino acid referred to as L-theanine. Research has discovered that this amino acid induces the production of brain waves. This helps improve your mental energy while at the same time making the rest of your body more relaxed. You probably already knew how easy it is to be healthy when you drink green tea. And now you are aware that green tea can help improve your mood also!
So you see, you don’t need junk food or foods that are not good for you so you can feel better! Try a few of these instead!
