- Take Plain
- Make ready 100 grams Pancake mix
- Get 70 grams Mochiko
- Prepare 1 tbsp Vegetable oil
- Prepare 100 ml Milk
- Make ready 5 tbsp Sugar
- Get 1 dash Baking powder
Steps to make Chewy Steamed Bread with Mochiko & Pancake Mix:
- Mix together the egg, vegetable oil, milk and sugar well.
- Add the pancake mix and mochiko to the bowl and fold in with a spatula.
- [Steaming in a Steamer] Line the inside of a steamer container with glassine paper cups. Pour the batter into cups.
- Once there is steam coming out of the steamer, add the cups and steam for 15-20 minutes (this takes a bit longer than the frying pan way).
- [Steaming in a frying pan] Pour the batter into the cups and line them up inside a large, flat frying pan.
- Add 1 cm boiling water, cover the pan with a lid and steam for 12-14 minutes.
- Once the bread has risen, they're done.
- (Variation) I've made lots of variations of the original "Steamed Bread with Pancake Mix"with bananas, cocoa powder, raisins etc.
- For each recipe, replace the 200 g pancake mix with 100 g pancake mix + 70 g mochiko.
- Note: Shiratamako is extremely fine, but clumps easily, so it's not ideal for steamed bread.
- Note: Using mochiko doesn't rise well, so add baking powder. The top photo omits the baking powder.

Some grains are really wonderful for repelling bad moods. Teff, barley, millet, quinoa, etc are all wonderful for helping you feel better. These foods can help you feel full for longer too, which can help your mood too. Feeling starved can be terrible! These grains can improve your mood since it’s not at all difficult for your body to digest them. They are easier to digest than other foods which helps raise your blood sugar levels and that, in turn, improves your mood.
Your mood could really be helped by green tea. You were simply expecting to read that, weren’t you? Green tea is loaded with a particular amino acid referred to as L-theanine. Studies have found that this amino acid actually stimulates brain waves. This will improve your brain’s focus while also loosening up the rest of your body.
