The ingredients needed to make Vickys Halloween Cucumber 'Caprese' Snake Salad, GF DF EF SF NF:
- Get 1 cucumber
- Get 2 olives/grapes for eyes
- Make ready mixed salad/basil leaves to serve
- Prepare salad dressing of choice

- Make ready 250 grams mozzarella style cheese block, I used 'Teese' vegan no-soy mozzarella
Steps to make Vickys Halloween Cucumber 'Caprese' Snake Salad, GF DF EF SF NF:
- Cut the ends from the cucumber for making the head and tail. On the head piece cut a V shape in the middle of the narrow end to make a gaping mouth
- Cut a forked tongue from a slice of cucumber and put it in the mouth and use cocktail sticks to stick on eyes made out of olives or grapes
- Slice the tomato, cheese and onion into equal sized slices. I got 6 slices from each and so cut 6 slices of cucumber to use but depending on how long you need your snake to be you can triple the cucumber slices and put a slice between everything
- Layer your serving tray with salad leaves. You can add a dressing of choice at this point
- Now start layering the tomato, mozzarella, onion and cucumber slices on top of the salad leaves. Make it bendy and curved around the tray like a snake
- Add the head and tail and it's done!
- This is a great side to the Halloween Man-Eating Bun and Savoury Severed Fingers in my profile!
- You can use any leftover cucumber to add to water for a refreshing summer drink, chop it and make a raita or try my Green Gazpacho also in my profile!
Try Using Food to Improve Your Mood
For the most part, people have been trained to think that “comfort” foods are bad for the body and must be avoided. At times, if your comfort food is basically candy or other junk foods, this can be true. Other times, though, comfort foods can be totally nutritious and it’s good for you to eat them. There are some foods that basically can boost your moods when you consume them. If you are feeling a little bit down and in need of an emotional pick me up, try some of these.
Eggs, believe it or not, can be truly great at dealing with depression. Just make sure that you do not toss the yolk. The yolk is the part of the egg that is the most important in terms of helping raise your mood. Eggs, especially the egg yolks, are rich in B vitamins. These B vitamins are great for helping to boost your mood. This is because they help your neural transmitters–the parts of your brain that dictate your mood–function better. Try eating an egg and cheer up!
Put together some trail mix of nuts or seeds. Almonds, cashews, peanuts, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, etc are all great for improving your mood. This is because these foods are loaded with magnesium, which helps to increase serotonin production. Serotonin is the “feel good” chemical that dictates to your brain how you feel at all times. The higher your serotonin levels, the happier you will feel. Not just that, nuts, particularly, are a terrific source of protein.
If you would like to beat depression, try consuming some cold water fish. Salmon, herring, tuna fish, mackerel, trout, etcetera, they’re all chock-full of omega-3 fatty acids and DHA. These are two things that really help the grey matter in your brain function a lot better. It’s true: eating a tuna fish sandwich can actually help you fight depression.
Some grains are really excellent for repelling bad moods. Quinoa, millet, teff and barley are all actually excellent for helping increase your happiness levels. They can help you feel full for longer also, helping you feel better. Feeling hungry can be terrible! These grains can elevate your mood because it’s not at all difficult for your body to digest them. They are simpler to digest than other foods which helps raise your blood sugar levels and that, in turn, raises your mood.
Green tea is fantastic for moods. You knew green tea had to be mentioned, right? Green tea has a lot of an amino acid referred to as L-theanine. Research has proved that this amino acid stimulates the production of brain waves. This helps sharpen your mental energy while simultaneously relaxing the rest of your body. You already knew green tea could help you be better. Now you are aware that green tea helps you to raise your moods too!
As you can see, you don’t need to consume all that junk food when you wish to feel better! Test out these hints instead!
