Foods That Can Make You Happy

A lot of us believe that comfort foods are terrible for us and that we need to stay away from them. At times, if your comfort food is a sugary food or another junk food, this holds true. Soemtimes, comfort foods can be utterly nutritious and good for us to consume. There are several foods that really can boost your moods when you eat them. If you are feeling a little bit down and you’re needing an emotional pick me up, try some of these.

Eggs, would you believe, are fantastic for helping you fight depression. Just see to it that you do not toss the yolk. The egg yolk is the most important part of the egg iwhen it comes to helping you cheer up. Eggs, specifically the egg yolks, are full of B vitamins. B vitamins can truly help you raise your mood. This is because they help in bettering the function of your neural transmitters, the components of your brain that affect your mood. Eat an egg and jolly up!

Make a trail mix out of seeds and/or nuts. Your mood can be elevated by eating peanuts, almonds, cashews, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, and other types of nuts. This is because seeds and nuts have lots of magnesium which raises your brain’s serotonin levels. Serotonin is a feel-good chemical that tells the brain how to feel at any given moment. The more you have of it, the better you will feel. Not only that, nuts, in particular, are a fantastic protein source.

Cold water fish are great for eating if you are wanting to combat depression. Salmon, herring, tuna, mackerel, trout, etc, they’re all high in omega-3s and DHA. These are two things that actually help the grey matter in your brain work a lot better. It’s true: consuming a tuna fish sandwich can earnestly boost your mood.

It’s not difficult to fight your bad mood when you consume grains. Quinoa, barley, millet, etc are fantastic at helping you have a happier mood. They help you feel full too which can actually help to make your mood better. Feeling famished can truly bring you down! The reason these grains can improve your mood is that they are not hard for your stomach to digest. They are easier to digest than other foods which helps bring up your blood sugar levels and that, in turn, raises your mood.

Green tea is wonderful for moods. You were sure it had to be in here somewhere, right? Green tea has been found to be chock-full of an amino acid called L-theanine. Research has found that this amino acid stimulates the production of brain waves. This will better your brain’s concentration while simultaneously loosening up the rest of your body. You already knew that green tea helps you feel better. Now you are well aware that green tea helps you to elevate your moods too!

Now you can see that junk food isn’t necessarily what you need to eat when you are wanting to help your moods get better. Try a few of these hints instead.
