Foods That Can Make You Happy
A lot of us believe that comfort foods are bad for us and that we should avoid them. But if your comfort food is candy or junk food this holds true. Otherwise, comfort foods can be super healthy and good for you. A number of foods really do raise your mood when you eat them. When you feel a little down and are in need of an emotional boost, test out a few of these.
Eggs, believe it or not, can be really great at dealing with depression. You need to see to it, however, that what you make includes the yolk. The egg yolk is the part of the egg that is the most important in terms of helping elevate your mood. Eggs, the yolk particularly, are rich in B vitamins. These B vitamins are terrific for helping to raise your mood. This is because they improve the function of your brain’s neural transmitters (the parts of the brain that affect how you feel). Eat an egg and be happy!
Put together a trail mix out of seeds and/or nuts. Peanuts, cashews, sunflower seeds, almonds, pumpkin seeds, etc are all fantastic for helping to raise your mood. This is possible since these foods are rich in magnesium which promotes your production of serotonin. Serotonin is a feel-good chemical that dictates to the brain how to feel at any given moment. The more serotonin you have, the happier you will feel. Not just that, nuts, particularly, are a terrific source of protein.
Cold water fish are great if you would like to feel happier. Cold water fish such as tuna, trout and wild salmon are rich in DHA and omega-3 fats. Omega-3 fatty acids and DHA are two things that raise the quality and the function of your brain’s gray matter. It’s true: eating a tuna fish sandwich can basically help you fight depression.
Grains can be great for overcoming a terrible mood. Quinoa, millet, teff and barley are all truly excellent for helping boost your happiness levels. They help you feel full also which can actually help to make your mood better. It’s not hard to feel a little bit off when you are starving! The reason these grains elevate your mood is that they are easy for your body to digest. They are simpler to digest than other foods which helps raise your blood sugar levels and that, in turn, elevates your mood.
Green tea is fantastic for moods. You just knew it had to be included in this article, right? Green tea is loaded with an amino acid known as L-theanine. Studies have found that this particular amino acid can actually induce brain waves. This helps improve your mental acuity while having a relaxing effect on the rest of your body. You probably already knew it is not difficult to be healthy when you consume green tea. Now you know that green tea helps you to raise your moods also!
So you see, you don’t need to eat junk food or foods that are bad for you just so to feel better! Try a couple of of these tips instead.
