Many of us think that comfort foods are terrible for us and that we should stay away from them. Sometimes, if your comfort food is a high sugar food or another junk food, this holds true. Other times, though, comfort foods can be completely nourishing and it’s good for you to eat them. There are several foods that, when you consume them, can improve your mood. If you feel a little bit down and you’re in need of a happiness pick me up, try a couple of these.
Eggs, believe it or not, can be actually great at fighting back depression. Just be sure that you don’t get rid of the egg yolk. The yolk is the most crucial part of the egg iwhen it comes to helping you cheer up. Eggs, the yolk in particular, are high in B vitamins. The B vitamin family can be fantastic for lifting up your mood. This is because they improve the function of your brain’s neural transmitters (the parts of the brain that tell you how to feel). Consume an egg and feel happier!
Make a trail mixfrom different seeds and nuts. Your mood can be improved by consuming peanuts, almonds, cashews, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, and other types of nuts. This is possible as these foods have a bunch of magnesium which boosts serotonin production. Nuts, along with bettering your mood, can be a great protein source.
If you want to overcome depression, try eating some cold water fish. Wild salmon, herring, mackerel, trout, and tuna are all high in omega-3 fats and DHA. It’s easy to fight your bad mood when you eat grains. Teff, barley, millet, quinoa, etc are all excellent for helping you feel better. They help you feel full too which can really help to make your mood better. Feeling hungry can be awful! The reason these grains are so good for your mood is that they are not hard for your stomach to digest.
