Information on How to Improve Your Mood with Food
Many of us believe that comfort foods are terrible for us and that we must keep away from them. If your comfort food is candy or junk food this holds true. Other times, however, comfort foods can be completely healthy and it’s good for you to eat them. There are some foods that actually can boost your moods when you consume them. When you are feeling a little down and are in need of an emotional boost, try some of these.
Eggs, you may be amazed to find out, are wonderful at fighting depression. Just make sure that you do not toss the yolk. The egg yolk is the part of the egg that is the most important in terms of helping you cheer up. Eggs, especially the yolks, are loaded with B vitamins. These B vitamins are wonderful for helping to improve your mood. This is because the B vitamins help your neural transmitters–the parts of your brain that affect your mood–function better. Try eating an egg and be happy!
Make a trail mixfrom various seeds and nuts. Peanuts, cashews, sunflower seeds, almonds, pumpkin seeds, and so on are all fantastic for helping to raise your mood. This is because seeds and nuts have lots of magnesium which boosts your brain’s serotonin levels. Serotonin is referred to as the “feel good” chemical substance and it tells your brain how you should be feeling at all times. The more serotonin in your brain, the more pleasant you’ll feel. Nuts, on top of elevating your mood, can be a great source of protein.
Cold water fish are excellent for eating if you wish to fight depression. Wild salmon, herring, mackerel, trout, and tuna are all high in omega-3 fatty acids and DHA. DHA and omega-3s are two things that promote the quality and the function of your brain’s gray matter. It’s true: eating a tuna fish sandwich can greatly raise your mood.
Some grains are really wonderful for fighting off bad moods. Quinoa, millet, teff and barley are all truly great for helping boost your happiness levels. These grains can help you feel full for longer as well, helping you feel better. It’s not hard to feel depressed when you feel famished! These grains can help your mood elevate because it’s not at all difficult for your body to digest them. You digest these foods quicker than other things which can help boost your blood sugar levels, which, in turn, helps make you feel better, mood wise.
Green tea is excellent for moods. You were simply expecting to read that in this article, weren’t you? Green tea is found to be packed full of an amino acid called L-theanine. Studies have found that this particular amino acid can basically stimulate brain waves. This will improve your brain’s concentration while simultaneously loosening up the rest of your body. You probably already knew it is not difficult to get healthy when you drink green tea. Now you know that applies to your mood also!
You can see, you don’t need to eat junk food or foods that are not good for you just so to feel better! Try some of these instead!
