Steps to make Spanish stew with chorizo and morcilla:
- Start your preparation with slicing and dicing your onions, peppers and potatoes. The morcilla and chorizo as well.
- For this dish I use my large casserole pan. Put some butter and/or olive oil in the pan and add the garlic and Chili. Next goes the onion in until it’s caramelised at which point you can add the peppers.
- A few minutes after it’s time for the meat to be added. The meat doesn’t need a long time grilling, so first add the morcilla. In my case I often pick black pudding as in this dish it’ll do the trick just fine and is easier to get to for me. Once it breaks apart it is a good point to add your spices in as well. Add the chorizo and the olives for a few minutes.
- At this point add the water and stock. Put in the potatoes and beans and leave it all stewing for 20 to 30 minutes until it all starts thickening and you’ll be ready to serve

Try Using Food to Elevate Your Mood
A lot of us have been conditioned to think that comfort foods are terrible and are to be avoided. At times, if your comfort food is a high sugar food or some other junk food, this is true. Other times, though, comfort foods can be totally healthy and it’s good for you to consume them. There are several foods that actually can boost your moods when you consume them. When you are feeling a little down and are in need of an emotional boost, try a few of these.
Eggs, believe it or not, are fantastic for helping you battle depression. Just make sure that you don’t throw away the egg yolk. The egg yolk is the part of the egg that matters most in terms of helping raise your mood. Eggs, especially the egg yolks, are loaded with B vitamins. The B vitamin family can be terrific for elevating your mood. This is because the B vitamins help your neural transmitters–the parts of your brain that control your mood–run better. Eat an egg and jolly up!
Put together a few trail mix of nuts or seeds. Almonds, cashews, peanuts, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, etc are all great for raising your mood. This is because these foods are rich in magnesium, which helps to raise serotonin levels. Serotonin is a feel-good chemical substance that directs the brain how to feel at any given moment. The more of it in your brain, the more pleasant you’ll feel. Not just that, nuts, particularly, are a great protein source.
If you would like to beat depression, try eating some cold water fish. Cold water fish including tuna, trout and wild salmon are rich in DHA and omega-3 fatty acids. These are two substances that increase the quality and function of the grey matter in your brain. It’s the truth: eating tuna fish sandwiches can actually help you overcome your depression.
Some grains are truly wonderful for fighting off bad moods. Quinoa, millet, teff and barley are all truly excellent for helping boost your happiness levels. These grains can help you feel full for longer as well, helping you feel better. Feeling hungry can actually make you feel terrible! The reason these grains are so wonderful for your mood is that they are not hard for your stomach to digest. These foods are easier to digest than others which helps kick start a rise in your sugar levels which in turn takes your mood to a happier place.
Green tea is fantastic for moods. You were sure it had to be in here somewhere, right? Green tea is rich in a certain amino acid called L-theanine. Studies prove that this specific amino acid can essentially stimulate brain waves. This will improve your brain’s concentration while simultaneously loosening up the rest of your body. You already knew green tea could help you be so much healthier. Now you know that green tea can improve your mood too!
So you see, you don’t need to eat all that junk food when you want to feel better! Try a few of these instead!
