Information on How to Elevate Your Mood with Food
A lot of us believe that comfort foods are not good for us and that we have to avoid them. Sometimes, if your comfort food is a high sugar food or another junk food, this is true. Other times, comfort foods can be utterly healthy and good for us to consume. Several foods honestly do boost your mood when you consume them. When you feel a little down and are in need of an emotional boost, try a couple of these.
Eggs, believe it or not, are great for helping you battle depression. Just be sure that you don’t get rid of the egg yolk. When you would like to cheer yourself up, the yolk is the most vital part of the egg. Eggs, the egg yolks particularly, are high in B vitamins. These B vitamins are fantastic for helping to boost your mood. This is because these vitamins help your neural transmitters–the parts of your brain that control your mood–run better. Eat an egg and feel happier!
Put together a trail mixout of various seeds and nuts. Your mood can be raised by consuming peanuts, almonds, cashews, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, and other types of nuts. This is because these nuts are rich in magnesium, which helps to boost your production of serotonin. Serotonin is referred to as the “feel good” substance that our body produces and it tells your brain how you should be feeling all the time. The more of this chemical in your brain, the happier you’ll feel. Not just that but nuts, particularly, are a great protein food source.
Cold water fish are great for eating if you are wanting to combat depression. Wild salmon, herring, mackerel, trout, and tuna are all full of omega-3 fats and DHA. Omega-3 fatty acids and DHA are two things that promote the quality and the function of your brain’s grey matter. It’s true: consuming a tuna fish sandwich can actually help you fight depression.
Some grains are truly excellent for driving away bad moods. Quinoa, barley, millet, etc are fantastic at helping you feel happier. They help you feel full also which can truly help to make your mood better. It’s not difficult to feel low when you feel hungry! The reason these grains help your mood so much is that they are easy to digest. They are simpler to digest than other foods which helps kick up your blood sugar levels and that, in turn, improves your mood.
Green tea is really excellent for your mood. You knew green tea had to be mentioned, right? Green tea is rich in an amino acid known as L-theanine. Studies have discovered that this amino acid actually stimulates brain waves. This will improve your brain’s focus while simultaneously calming the rest of your body. You likely already knew how easy it is to be healthy when you consume green tea. Now you are aware that green tea helps you to raise your moods also!
