Information on How to Elevate Your Mood with Food

Many of us think that comfort foods are bad for us and that we must keep away from them. Often, if your comfort food is candy or some other junk food, this holds true. Other times, however, comfort foods can be totally healthy and it’s good for you to eat them. Some foods actually do boost your mood when you eat them. If you are feeling a little bit down and in need of an emotional pick me up, try some of these.

Eggs, believe it or not, can be actually terrific at dealing with depression. Just be sure that you don’t throw away the yolk. The egg yolk is the most essential part of the egg iwhen it comes to helping elevate your mood. Eggs, particularly the egg yolks, are full of B vitamins. B vitamins can actually help you elevate your mood. This is because they help your neural transmitters–the parts of your brain that dictate your mood–work better. Consume an egg and cheer up!

Make some trail mix of nuts or seeds. Almonds, cashews, peanuts, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, and so on are all helpful for improving your mood. This is because these foods are loaded with magnesium, which helps to raise serotonin production. Serotonin is a feel-good chemical that directs the brain how to feel at any given moment. The more of it in your brain, the better you’ll feel. Nuts, in addition to raising your mood, can be a super protein source.

Cold water fish are excellent if you would like to feel better. Salmon, herring, tuna, mackerel, trout, etc, they’re all high in omega-3s and DHA. DHA and omega-3s are two things that raise the quality and the function of your brain’s grey matter. It’s true: consuming a tuna fish sandwich can actually help you fight back depression.

It’s not hard to drive away your bad mood when you eat grains. Quinoa, barley, teff, millet, etc are all wonderful for helping you feel better. These grains can help you feel full for longer too, helping you feel better. Feeling starved can be awful! These grains can help your mood elevate since it’s not at all difficult for your body to digest them. You digest these grains faster than other foods which can help boost your blood sugar levels, which, in turn, helps make you feel more pleasant, mood wise.

Your mood can truly be helped by green tea. You knew it had to be mentioned in this article, right? Green tea is loaded with a certain amino acid referred to as L-theanine. Studies prove that this specific amino acid can basically induce brain waves. This helps better your mental acuity while relaxing the rest of your body. You probably already knew it is not hard to get healthy when you consume green tea. Now you know that green tea helps you to lift your moods too!

As you can see, you don’t need to stuff your face with junk food when you wish to feel better! Try some of these instead!
