How to Boost Your Mood with Food
For the most part, people have been conditioned to think that “comfort” foods are not good for the body and need to be avoided. Often, if your comfort food is basically candy or other junk foods, this can be true. Otherwise, comfort foods could be super healthy and good for you. Some foods honestly do raise your mood when you eat them. When you are feeling a little down and need an emotional boost, test out a few of these.
Eggs, believe it or not, can be truly terrific at beating back depression. You need to make sure, though, that what you make includes the egg yolk. When you want to cheer yourself up, the egg yolk is the most vital part of the egg. Eggs, the yolks particularly, are rich in B vitamins. The B vitamin family can be great for lifting up your mood. This is because the B vitamins improve the function of your brain’s neural transmitters (the parts of the brain that dictate how you feel). Try eating some eggs to jolly up!
Put together a trail mixfrom different seeds and nuts. Your mood can be raised by consuming peanuts, almonds, cashews, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, and so on. This is possible since these foods have a bunch of magnesium which increases serotonin production. Serotonin is the “feel good” chemical that tells your brain how you feel at all times. The more serotonin you have, the more pleasant you are going to feel. Not just that but nuts, particularly, are a fantastic protein source.
If you would like to beat depression, you should eat some cold water fish. Salmon, herring, tuna, mackerel, trout, and so on, they’re all loaded with omega-3 fatty acids and DHA. Omega-3 fatty acids and DHA are two things that promote the quality and the function of your brain’s gray matter. It’s true: eating a tuna fish sandwich can basically help you fight depression.
It’s easy to overcome your bad mood when you consume grains. Quinoa, barley, teff, millet, etc are all excellent for helping you feel happier. These foods fill you up better and that can help improve your moods as well. Feeling starved can actually bring you down! These grains can help your mood elevate because it’s not at all hard for your body to digest them. These foods are easier to digest than others which helps kick start a rise in your glucose levels which in turn kicks up your mood to a happier place.
Your mood can actually be helped by green tea. You knew it had to be included in this article, right? Green tea is loaded with a certain amino acid referred to as L-theanine. Research has discovered that this amino acid induces the production of brain waves. This will better your brain’s focus while also loosening up the rest of your body. You knew green tea could help you be better. And now you are aware that it can help raise your mood also!
Now you can see that junk food isn’t necessarily what you have to eat when you are wanting to help your moods get better. Try these hints instead!
