Foods That Make Your Mood Better
Mostly, people have been trained to think that “comfort” foods are bad for the body and have to be avoided. At times, if the comfort food is a high sugar food or some other junk food, this is very true. Otherwise, comfort foods may be super healthy and good for you. There are several foods that basically can raise your moods when you eat them. When you feel a little down and need an emotional pick-me-up, test out a couple of these.
Eggs, believe it or not, are great for helping you fight depression. Just make sure that you do not throw out the egg yolk. The egg yolk is the most important part of the egg in terms of helping raise your mood. Eggs, especially the egg yolks, are full of B vitamins. B vitamins can genuinely help you boost your mood. This is because they help your neural transmitters–the parts of your brain that affect your mood–work better. Try eating an egg and be happy!
Put together a trail mixout of various seeds and nuts. Almonds, cashews, peanuts, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, etcetera are all wonderful for raising your mood. This is because these foods are rich in magnesium, which helps to boost your production of serotonin. Serotonin is the “feel good” chemical substance that directs your brain how you feel at all times. The more serotonin in your brain, the happier you’ll feel. Not just that, nuts, in particular, are a great source of protein.
Cold water fish are excellent for eating if you wish to combat depression. Salmon, herring, tuna, mackerel, trout, etcetera, they’re all loaded with omega-3 fatty acids and DHA. These are two things that raise the quality and the function of your brain’s gray matter. It’s the truth: consuming tuna fish sandwiches can really help you overcome your depression.
Grains can be great for fighting a bad mood. Quinoa, barley, teff, millet, etc are all good for helping you be in a happier state of mind. These foods fill you up better and that can help elevate your moods also. Feeling hungry can actually bring you down! The reason these grains are so wonderful for your mood is that they are easy to digest. They are simpler to digest than other foods which helps bring up your blood sugar levels and that, in turn, raises your mood.
Green tea is fantastic for moods. You were just anticipating to read that, weren’t you? Green tea is found to be rich in an amino acid referred to as L-theanine. Studies have discovered that this amino acid essentially stimulates brain waves. This helps focus your mental energy while simultaneously calming your body. You likely already knew how easy it is to be healthy when you drink green tea. And now you know green tea can help raise your mood as well!
Now you can see that junk food isn’t necessarily what you need to eat when you wish to help your moods get better. Try these tips instead!
