The ingredients needed to make Edible Building Blocks For Charaben:
- Make ready 1 Fish sausage
- Get 1 Thick tamagoyaki

- Get 1 Try other ingredients too
- Get 1 Regular sized straw
Steps to make Edible Building Blocks For Charaben:
- Slice the fish sausage 1 cm thick.
- Cut off all 4 sides to square it off. The square should be about the size of a caramel candy.
- Make 4 holes with the straw.
- Insert the round bits you cut out of the sausage into the holes, about 2/3 of the way on. (The photo shows 2 holes plugged back in.) Fill all 4 holes…and it's done.
- Kamaboko version: Cut out a block about the size of a caramel candy. Kamaboko is firmer than fish sausage so you may have some trouble with the cutouts, but they'll come out if you push them up from the back.
- Thick tamagoyaki version: These were more difficult since they tended to fall apart. But they're so cute!
- Carrot version: Cook a 1 cm thick slice of carrot in water + sugar syrup to cover (microwave for a bit less than 2 minutes at 500 W), then proceed.
- This version is made from processed cheese. It was easier to make them with room temperature cheese. You can make a 3-knob block or a 6 knob block, depending on the size of the cheese.
Try Using Food to Elevate Your Mood
Many of us have been conditioned to believe that comfort foods are terrible and are to be avoided. At times, if the comfort food is a high sugar food or some other junk food, this holds true. Otherwise, comfort foods may be really nourishing and good for you. There are a number of foods that, when you eat them, can boost your mood. When you feel a little down and need an emotional boost, try a couple of these.
Eggs, would you believe, are wonderful for helping you combat depression. You must be sure, however, that what you make includes the egg yolk. The egg yolk is the most important part of the egg iwhen it comes to helping elevate your mood. Eggs, the yolk especially, are high in B vitamins. B vitamins can truly help you raise your mood. This is because they improve the function of your brain’s neural transmitters (the parts of the brain that affect how you feel). Try to eat an egg and feel a lot better!
Make a trail mixfrom different seeds and nuts. Peanuts, cashews, sunflower seeds, almonds, pumpkin seeds, etcetera are all fantastic for helping to elevate your mood. This is because seeds and nuts have a lot of magnesium which increases your brain’s serotonin levels. Serotonin is the “feel good” natural substance that tells your brain how you feel day in and day out. The more serotonin in your brain, the happier you’ll feel. Nuts, along with raising your mood, can be a super source of protein.
Cold water fish are wonderful for eating if you wish to beat back depression. Salmon, herring, tuna fish, mackerel, trout, etc, they’re all loaded with omega-3 and DHA. These are two substances that increase the quality and function of the grey matter in your brain. It’s true: consuming a tuna fish sandwich can seriously elevate your mood.
It’s easy to drive away your bad mood when you eat grains. Quinoa, barley, teff, millet, etc are all wonderful for helping you feel happier. These grains can help you feel full for longer as well, helping you feel better. Feeling famished can actually make you feel terrible! These grains can help your mood elevate since it’s easy for your body to digest them. These foods are easier to digest than others which helps jumpstart a rise in your sugar levels which in turn brings up your mood to a happier place.
Green tea is really great for your mood. You knew it had to be in here somewhere, right? Green tea is loaded with an amino acid called L-theanine. Research has found that this amino acid promotes the production of brain waves. This helps focus your mental energy while simultaneously calming your body. You likely already knew it is not hard to become healthy when you consume green tea. Now you know that green tea can improve your mood too!
See, you don’t need to consume all that junk food when you want to feel better! Try a few of these suggestions instead.
