Try Using Food to Elevate Your Mood
Many of us have been conditioned to think that comfort foods are bad and are to be avoided. If your comfort food is candy or junk food this can be true. Other times, however, comfort foods can be altogether nourishing and it’s good for you to consume them. Some foods honestly do boost your mood when you consume them. If you feel a little bit down and you need an emotional pick me up, try some of these.
Eggs, believe it or not, are great for helping you fight depression. You must make sure, though, that what you make includes the yolk. Whenever you wish to cheer yourself up, the yolk is the most crucial part of the egg. Eggs, the yolks especially, are loaded with B vitamins. B vitamins can be terrific for raising your mood. This is because these vitamins improve the function of your brain’s neural transmitters (the parts of the brain that affect how you feel). Try consuming some eggs to jolly up!
Put together several trail mix of nuts or seeds. Almonds, cashews, peanuts, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, and so on are all wonderful for elevating your mood. This is possible because these foods have a bunch of magnesium which raises serotonin production. Serotonin is the “feel good” natural substance that tells your brain how you feel day in and day out. The higher your levels of serotonin, the more pleasant you are going to feel. Not just that, nuts, particularly, are a fantastic protein food source.
If you want to overcome depression, you should eat some cold water fish. Wild salmon, herring, mackerel, trout, and tuna are all high in omega-3 fats and DHA. These are two substances that promote the quality and function of the gray matter in your brain. It’s true: consuming a tuna fish sandwich can earnestly elevate your mood.
It’s easy to fight your bad mood when you eat grains. Barley, quinoa, millet, teff, etc are all great for helping you feel better. They help you feel full too which can actually help to improve your mood. It’s easy to feel low when you feel famished! These grains can help your mood elevate since it’s not at all hard for your body to digest them. You digest these foods more quickly than other things which can help increase your blood sugar levels, which, in turn, helps make you feel better, mood wise.
Your mood could truly be helped by green tea. You were simply anticipating to read that, weren’t you? Green tea has a lot of an amino acid known as L-theanine. Research has proven that this amino acid promotes the production of brain waves. This helps improve your mental energy while at the same time calming your body. You were already aware that green tea could help you be healthier. Now you know that applies to your mood also!
Now you realize that junk food isn’t necessarily what you need to eat when you want to help your moods get better. Try a few of these instead!
