Ice Box Pickles is one of the most well liked of current trending meals in the world. It’s enjoyed by millions every day. It’s simple, it’s quick, it tastes yummy. Ice Box Pickles is something that I’ve loved my whole life. They are nice and they look wonderful.

To get started with this particular recipe, we have to first prepare a few ingredients. You can cook ice box pickles using 10 ingredients and 6 steps. Here is how you cook that.

The ingredients needed to make Ice Box Pickles:
  1. Get 1 head cauliflower
  2. Get 7 cup cucumber diced, with seeds removed
  3. Get 1/2 cup onion, sliced
  4. Make ready 1/2 cup sliced red or green pepper, or a combination of both
  5. Prepare 2 cup sugar**
  6. Prepare 1 cup vinegar
  7. Get 1 tbsp coarse salt
  8. Prepare 1 tsp mustard seed
  9. Make ready 1 tsp celery seed
  10. Get 2 large mason jars
Steps to make Ice Box Pickles:
  1. Cut up all vegetables into a large container or bowl (1 gallon capacity approx.)
  2. Combine vinegar, spices, salt, and **sugar into a jar and shake well. With the sugar, 2 cups is fairly sweet, so if you want a sweeter pickle use all 2 cups. For a tarter pickle use less. I started with 1 ½ cups in the jar and taste tested. I used about 1 ⅔ cups of sugar.
  3. Pour the liquid over the cut up vegetables, cover and refrigerate 12 – 24 hrs stirring every 6 - 8 hrs or so, making sure all the vegetables are evenly coated.
  4. The vegetable mass you started with will drop considerably and the liquid mass will double to triple in volume.
  5. Divide your pickled vegetables into 2 jars and cover with the liquid left in the container.
  6. Theses pickles will keep for 3 months in the refrigerator, if they last that long! Enjoy! :)

Use Food to Improve Your Mood

For the most part, people have been trained to believe that “comfort” foods are not good for the body and have to be avoided. Sometimes, if your comfort food is a sugary food or some other junk food, this is true. Other times, though, comfort foods can be totally nourishing and it’s good for you to eat them. There are several foods that actually can improve your moods when you eat them. When you are feeling a little down and are needing an emotional boost, try some of these.

Eggs, believe it or not, can be truly terrific at fighting back depression. Just make sure that you don’t get rid of the egg yolk. When you want to cheer yourself up, the yolk is the most important part of the egg. Eggs, specifically the yolks, are loaded with B vitamins. These B vitamins are wonderful for helping to elevate your mood. This is because these vitamins help your neural transmitters–the parts of your brain that control your mood–work better. Eat an egg and be happy!

Make a trail mixfrom different seeds and nuts. Peanuts, cashews, sunflower seeds, almonds, pumpkin seeds, etcetera are all fantastic for helping to boost your mood. This is possible as these foods have a bunch of magnesium which raises your production of serotonin. Serotonin is the “feel good” chemical that tells your brain how you feel all the time. The more of this chemical in your brain, the more pleasant you’ll feel. Not just that but nuts, in particular, are a terrific source of protein.

Cold water fish are great for eating if you are wanting to battle depression. Wild salmon, herring, mackerel, trout, and tuna are all rich in omega-3s and DHA. These are two things that raise the quality and the function of your brain’s grey matter. It’s the truth: consuming tuna fish sandwiches can really help you fight your depression.

Grains can be excellent for fighting a bad mood. Barley, millet, quinoa, etc are great at helping you feel happier. These grains can help you feel full for longer as well, which can help your mood too. Feeling hungry can really make you feel terrible! The reason these grains elevate your mood is that they are easy for your body to digest. They are simpler to digest than other foods which helps raise your blood sugar levels and that, in turn, improves your mood.

Your mood can really be helped by green tea. You knew it had to be in here somewhere, right? Green tea is rich in a certain amino acid called L-theanine. Studies prove that this specific amino acid can essentially stimulate brain waves. This helps better your mental focus while relaxing the rest of your body. You knew that green tea helps you feel better. Now you know that green tea helps you to elevate your moods as well!

Now you realize that junk food isn’t necessarily what you need to eat when you wish to help your moods get better. Test out these hints instead!
